Hello. I'm Debbie Moore. I teach seventh grade science at Sweetwater Middle School. Since I was in elementary school I have wanted to be a teacher. I got my Associates Degree from South Plains College. That is where I found my love for science. It was the result of labs and the application of science to my everyday life by my professors. I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in secondary education with a composite science major. I began teaching 6th grade science in Levelland.

During the summers I began taking graduate hours in science. There is so much to learn and I just LOVE to learn! Eventually I ended up with a Masters Degree in Biology from East Texas State University. After teaching in Levelland for 13 years we moved to Sweetwater. I have taught at Sweetwater Middle School for the past 13 years. Each year I continue to take workshops to help me learn new ways to teach and use technology in my classroom.


I coach UIL science at SMS and teach TAKS remidiation for math. One of my greatest honors was being chosen as the Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2003.


I am married and have 3 teenage children. I love to cook, travel, be outdoors and spend time with my family.

In my classroom I teach with a variety of styles in order to try to expose each of the students to the material we are covering in a way in which they can learn. We have much hands-on learning where each of the students can be engaged in learning all at the same time. I try to encourage the students' curiosity and creative thinking. I try to expose them to different areas of science and help them to believe in their abilities. I feel this is important because some of them will be tomorrow's scientists!
