My name is Shana Hrbacek and I teach 8th grade Texas Science at Sweetwater Middle School. I started out substitute teaching when my children were small and I fell in love with teaching Middle School Students. I received my Associates Degree from Western Texas College and a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology and a minor in Reading from Angelo State University. My passion for teaching is allowing every student an opportunity to learn in a way that works for them. My goals for myself include helping each student discover which techniques work for them and showing them a way to learn a genre of information to their best ability using those techniques. Also, to make science fun and interesting by keeping them wondering why? Why do golf balls have dents and why do arrows have feathers? Science is fascinating if taught with an understanding that it is leaned through discovery and experiments and inquisitive minds are a product of just that. I love to perform labs with my students because I allow them to "play" while they are learning and they don't realize they are learning; they just think what we are doing is cool! Middle School students are my favorite by far. |
